At the heart of
social entrepreneurship
Sustainable development needs entrepreneurs. It is private initiative that enables the identification of population needs and accelerates technological, ecological, and social innovation. Increasingly, companies are placing their societal impact at the core of their projects, on par with their financial profitability. In recent years, the COVID-19 crisis has reminded us of the urgent need for our societies to take responsibility for environmental and social inclusion challenges. We must collectively and rapidly develop capacities for resilience and societal innovation. For this, we need innovative entrepreneurs more than ever, those who challenge the status quo to invent sustainable models for generating societal impacts in Africa.
Since its creation in 2017 by the Campus Group AFD of the French Development Agency, the Social & Inclusive Business Camp (SIBC) has supported nearly 300 high-impact social entrepreneurs on the African continent in scaling up, measuring their social performance, and preparing for fundraising.
